Woman arrested over alleged attempt to steal Elvis Presley’s Graceland

Written by on August 17, 2024

An alleged fraudster was arrested for trying to steal the title to Elvis Presley’s Memphis estate.

Lisa Jeanine Findley is accused of trying to extort the late singer’s family after she allegedly created false documents declaring the Presley estate belonged to her.

The alleged fraudster was arrested and made an initial court appearance in Missouri on 16 August, charged with mail fraud and aggravated identity theft.

The Justice Department alleged Findley tried to pass herself off as three different people – all representatives of “Naussany Investments & Private Lending”, a company she claimed had lent Elvis’s daughter Lisa Marie Presley $3.8 million with the Graceland estate as collateral.

Lisa Marie passed away on 12 January 2023.

“As alleged in the complaint, the defendant orchestrated a scheme to conduct a fraudulent sale of Graceland, falsely claiming that Elvis Presley’s daughter had pledged the historic landmark as collateral for a loan that she failed to repay before her death,” the head of the Justice Department’s criminal division said in a statement.

Findley allegedly fraudulently advertised the property as a foreclosure sale before Lisa Marie’s daughter, 35-year-old Riley Keough, won a court order to block it.

“Fame and money are magnets for criminals who look to capitalize on another person’s celebrity status,” Eric Shen, inspector in charge of the US Postal Inspection Service Criminal Investigations Group (USPIS), said in a statement.
