Usher cancels Miami shows amid Hurricane Milton

Written by on October 9, 2024

Usher will no longer be taking the stage in Miami this weekend.

The R&B singer’s concerts have been postponed as Florida declares a state of emergency for Hurricane Milton.

The powerful Category 5 storm is expected to make landfall on Florida’s Gulf Coast on Wednesday night.

As a safety precaution, Usher has announced that he will be rescheduling his three sold-out concerts at Kaseya Centre to later this year.

“My upcoming shows in Miami at Kaseya Centre have been rescheduled for December due to the state of emergency in Florida,” Usher shared via social media.

“Everyone’s safety and well-being remain my top priority and I’d rather celebrate with you all at a time when you can get to and from the show safely.

“Praying for everyone affected by this natural disaster,” Usher concluded.

He added on Instagram: “Florida, stay safe. I will see you soon.”

The Yeah! singer was originally slated to perform on 11, 12 and 14 October. The shows will now be held on 16, 18 and 19 December at the same venue.

Hurricane Milton is expected to weaken to a Category 3 before it makes landfall on Wednesday but the National Hurricane Centre’s John Cangialosi told USA Today that Hurricane Milton “has the potential to be one of the most destructive hurricanes on record for west-central Florida”.
