Shawn Mendes set for awkward MTV VMA love triangle reunion

Shawn Mendes will perform at the 2024 MTV VMAs – alongside two women he is rumoured to be romantically linked with.
The 26-year-old Canadian pop hunk was announced as a 2024 Video Music Awards performer by MTV on Tuesday.
The music channel shared the news via a social media post, stating, “@SHAWNMENDES: A 2024 #VMAs PERFORMER! He’s taking the stage LIVE September 11 on @mtv! See you there!”
Anitta, Karol G and LL Cool J were also added to the growing roster of stars set to sing at the music event.
Earlier this month, Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, Camila Cabello, GloRilla and Rauw Alejandro were revealed as the first stars set to perform at the awards.
By adding Shawn to the mix, he is on course for an awkward reunion with Sabrina and Camila as he has been romantically linked to both in recent months.
Espresso star Sabrina released her sixth studio album, Short n’ Sweet, last week and raised eyebrows by including a song that appears to allude to Shawn reuniting with on-off girlfriend Camila after recently dating her.
The American pop star sings on the track Taste, “I heard you’re back together and if that’s true / You’ll just have to taste me when he’s kissin’ you.”
Shawn and Sabrina were linked in February 2023 and were spotted at a string of events and parties together – but never publicly confirmed a romance.
Two months later, however, fans of the Canadian star were surprised to see him kissing Camila, who he has dated on and off since 2019, at the 2023 Coachella music festival.
The 2024 MTV VMAs will be broadcast on Wednesday 11 September at at 8 p.m. ET/PT from New York’s UBS Arena.
