Shakira reveals Chris Martin helped her through heartbreak

Shakira has revealed how Chris Martin helped her through her split from Gerard Piqué.
The Hips Don’t Lie singer parted ways with the Spanish football star in 2022, after an 11-year relationship and two children together.
Shakira was left devastated by the break-up, but in a new Rolling Stone profile about the Coldplay frontman, she recalled how Chris was a constant source of support.
“He was there for me when I got separated and was heartbroken,” Shakira said of Chris. “He was checking in every day to see how I was doing, sending me words of support and strength and wisdom.”
Shakira went on to praise the musician – who is no stranger to heartbreak himself, having seen his marriage to Gwyneth Paltrow end in 2014 – for his unique perspective on life and for always offering her a shoulder to cry on.
“I see him as a person who sees life through a different lens, who’s sensitive to other people’s needs and very empathetic, very empathetic,” she added.
Earlier this year, Shakira discussed the pain she experienced following the break-up from Gerard, with rumours later circulating that the athlete had been unfaithful.
The 47-year-old Colombian star, who shares sons, Milan, 11, and Sasha, 9, with her ex, compared the emotional toll to an unbearable physical pain.
“The suffering I felt was probably the greatest I had ever experienced in my entire life, and it kept me from functioning at times,” Shakira told Rolling Stone in July. “It felt like someone had stabbed a hole in my chest. And the sensation was so real, almost physical. I physically felt like I had a hole in my chest and that people could see through me.”
