BTS members Jung Kook, Jimin, RM and V have started the military enlistment process.
The K-pop group’s label Big Hit Music announced on Wednesday that the remaining four band members will join J-Hope, Suga and Jin in fulfilling their mandatory service duties in South Korea.
“We would like to inform our fans that RM, Jimin, V and Jung Kook have initiated the military enlistment process,” they wrote on the Weverse platform. “The artists are preparing to fulfil their military service duties. We will inform you of further updates in due course.”
“We ask you for your continued love and support for RM, Jimin, V and Jung Kook until they complete their military service and return safely. Our company will spare no effort in providing support for our artists. Thank you.”
All able-bodied South Korean men aged 18-28 must serve in the military for around 21 months, however, some of the band members were able to defer their enlistment until they were 30.
Jin, the oldest member of the group, began his military service in December 2022 and J-Hope followed suit in April. Since September, Suga has been fulfilling his mandatory service requirement by working as a social service agent.
Since their service began, the remaining members have been pursuing solo projects. They are expected to reunite as BTS in 2025.
