Luke Bryan insists he has ‘respect’ for Beyoncé after recent interview

Written by on October 8, 2024

Luke Bryan has insisted that he has ‘respect’ for Beyoncé after his recent comments.

Last week, the country star spoke out about Beyoncé’s recent snub at the Country Music Association Awards.

Speaking to SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live on Tuesday, Luke argued that making a country album doesn’t automatically guarantee an award because “a lot of great music is overlooked”.

“Everybody loved that Beyoncé made a country album. Nobody’s mad about it. But where things get a little tricky. If you’re gonna make country albums, come into our world and be country with us a little bit,” he said. “Like Beyoncé can do exactly what she wants to. She’s probably the biggest star in music. But come to an award show and high-five us and have fun and get in the family, too.”

Taking to X on Monday, Luke addressed the backlash he received following the interview.

“I am posting tonight based on the ridiculous nature of the headlines I have read the last couple days from an interview on the Andy Cohen show I did this week when I was promoting my album,” he wrote. “I feel in my heart I could not let media create a false narrative.”

The When It Rains It Pours singer continued, “As I read thru the comments of some of you I just want to say that I encourage all of you to listen to the interview instead of reading click bait headlines (sic). You will hear my tone and intentions which were not negative.”

Luke went on to insist that he respects the Texas Hold ‘Em hitmaker and her fans.

“I respect Beyonce and I love how loyal her fans are,” the country singer wrote. “I spend a lot of time supporting other artists. I want everyone to win. Love yall.”

Beyonce’s latest album, Cowboy Cater, didn’t receive any nominations at this year’s CMA Awards, despite qualifying for several categories and making the hitmaker the first black woman to top the country albums chart.
