Drake has tied with Michael Jackson to secure the record of male solo artist with the most No. 1 songs in Billboard Hot 100 history.
First Person Shooter is the rapper’s 13th chart-topping song on America’s Billboard charts, a record that hasn’t been surpassed since Jackson achieved it in 1995 with You Are Not Alone, reports Pitchfork.
The achievement means the God’s Plan rapper and Billie Jean singer now share the title of fourth-most No. 1 songs on the Hot 100.
The Beatles hold the overall record with 20 songs, followed by Mariah Carey with 19 and Rihanna with 14.
First Person Shooter is the lead single from Drake’s latest album For All The Dogs, which also debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart following its release on 6 October.
The album – which features collaborations with J. Cole, Yeat, 21 Savage, SZA and Bad Bunny – has had a further six singles enter the Billboard top ten since its release.
Shortly after the album came out, Drake revealed he is taking a break from the music industry to focus on his health.
“I’ve been having the craziest problems, for years, with my stomach,” he explained on Sirius XM. “So, I need to focus on my health, and I need to get right. I have a lot of other things that I would love to focus on. So, I’m going to lock the door on the studio for a little bit… maybe a year or so, maybe a little longer.”
