Coast Guard suspends search for missing boater off Mass., NH coast

The U.S. Coast Guard suspended the search for a missing boater off the coast of Cape Ann late Friday morning. On Thursday, the bodies of three people were recovered in the vicinity of an overturned vessel, but one person was still missing.
The Coast Guard spent most of the day Thursday searching for a missing fishing boat and its crew off the New Hampshire coast. An overturned vessel was found early Thursday afternoon, and three men were later found about seven miles offshore.
The Coast Guard said four people departed from Hampton Harbor in a white 17-foot center console boat Wednesday morning.
“Their reported destination was fishing grounds near Jeffreys Ledge, approx. 50 miles offshore,” the Coast Guard tweeted Thursday.
Coast Guard crews searched a total of 27 hours and covered more than 1,567 square nautical miles.
With water temperatures in the mid 40s, the danger posed by the Atlantic Ocean water is heightened at this time of year.
