Chappell Roan go-go dances to first Number 1 single with Pink Pony Club

Written by on March 9, 2025

Pink Pony Club go-go dances to the top of the Official Singles Chart today, Roan’s first chart topper and a long-time coming for the ascendant superstar; she previously reached Number 2 last year with breakout sapphic banger Good Luck, Babe! and Number 4 with the kinetic HOT TO GO!

The fact that Pink Pony Club has become Chappell’s first Number 1 single here seems serendipitous too; the epic synth-pop banger (written about Chappell’s first visit to a West Hollywood gay club) was originally released nearly five years ago and signalled a turning point in Chappell choosing to embrace her queer identity in her pop music.

Huge congratulations are in order for US singer-songwriter Alex Warren, Ordinary now becomes his first UK Top 3 single, rising five to Number 3 today. Could it challenge for Number 1 next week?

Benson Boone’s former Number 1 smash hit Beautiful Things continues to ricochet back up the Top 5, lifting one to Number 4. Benson’s brand new single Sorry I’m Here For Someone Else also debuts at Number 30, earning the Washington native his fourth Top 40 single.

Following last weekend’s BRIT Awards, several of the ceremonies’ live performers experience a lift back up the chart; Lola Young’s former chart-topper Messy moves up two (7), Rising Star winner Myles Smith’s Nice To Meet You bounces back an incredible 45 places back to the Top 10 (8) while Teddy Swims’ Bad Dreams jumps back up six (10). Just outside the Top 40, Best Pop Act winner JADE sees her debut solo single Angel Of My Dreams take flight again, re-entering the chart for the first time in four months (45).

Tate McRae sees her latest single Revolving door moves up to a new peak (9), last week it became the third Top 10 from Tate’s latest record, So Close to What.

Sleepy Hallow & Doechii’s 2023 collab ANXIETY enters the Official Chart for the first time today (15). It becomes Sleepy Hallow’s second UK Top 40 entry, and the third for Doechii.

BTS idol JIMIN bounces back into the Top 40 with Who (23), up 21 week-on-week. The energetic pop track originally peaked inside the Top 5 (4).

Olivia Dean marks her second UK Top 40 single today; It’s Wasn’t Perfect But It Might Be vaults 24 to Number 36. The track has gained in popularity thanks to its inclusion on the soundtrack of Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy. Dean previously reached Number 19 with her cover of Nat King Cole’s The Christmas Song in 2021.

Finally, rising R&B star Ravyn Lenae earns her first Top 40 hit with Love Me Not cruising up 19 to Number 38.
