Rock legend Bruce Springsteen joined Simon Mayo for a chat recently, ahead of the Disney+ release of new documentary Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band which is out now.
Airing first on Simon’s Greatest Hits Radio Drivetime show the full video of the chat is available now via the Rayo app.
Bruce discussed his ‘wild’ fans in the UK and how he’s looking forward to heading to Manchester and Liverpool on tourn in 2025 as well.
‘[After the pandemic]… we had extremely enthusiastic audiences, looking at you like they may never going to see you again and us looking at them like we may never see them again.’
‘Our work life now is finite there’s only so many years that you’re going to be able to do that and we want to go out in flames, baby, in flames!’
‘To me my music always sounds better on the radio – just the idea that my song is being shared with thousands of other people at that moment…’
‘Sometimes you think the British audience might be a bit reserved but Wembley last year was wild.’
‘I’ve been coming to England for 50 years and we have dedicated fans here that are just really wonderful. Manchester next year is going to be something and I’m very excited about Liverpool also as I’ve never been and if you come from America you want to see Liverpool.’
‘It is expensive [going to live shows] but also there are a lot of affordable seats at my shows. And I don’t see things changing in the future. You no longer make any money from records at all… it’s changing times and the concert business has become quite expensive.’
‘I’ve written quite a bit lately and I do have a bunch of new songs so I’m looking forward to those. It may be this year sometime…’
