Adele felt like a teenager when she took her first Tube journey in nearly 20 years in December.
The 35-year-old music superstar has revealed that she recently rode the London Underground for the first time in almost 20 years.
Speaking at her recent gig in Las Vegas, Adele explained that she hadn’t taken the Tube since the 2005 bombings, which left 52 people dead and over 700 injured.
“I wasn’t even scared to be on the Tube. I loved it. It reminded me of my teenage years,” Adele told the crowd of her recent experience, according to MailOnline. “I haven’t really been on the Tube in England, not since I’ve been famous. It is since we had a terror attack there. I have been scared because I get claustrophobic.”
The Rolling in the Deep singer, who now lives in Los Angeles, told the crowd that she overcame her fear when she took the underground to go to Mamma Mia! The Party at the O2 Arena in December.
“I had an appointment before. So I had to get there in like 45 minutes and it’s like a two-hour drive really in traffic,” Adele explained. “So I had to get on the Tube, my appointment required me to be in full hair and make-up. So I very much looked like Adele the singer.
“I got on the Tube and I had a mask on. I did have lots of security guards with me in fairness and a few friends, but we were all very under the radar and I felt right at home. You’ll never guess what happened, but I f**king fell asleep!”
The Hometown Glory performer added that she “loved” taking the Tube after so many years.
“And then I got to the O2 and I had to walk through thousands and thousands of people,” Adele recalled. “People started recognising me then, but I was f**king out of time.”
