Kendrick Lamar has revealed SZA will join him as a guest performer at the Super Bowl.
The rapper announced the news by releasing a teaser trailer for the Super Bowl LIX Halftime show.
In the clip, the 37-year-old stands on a football field, chatting on the phone to someone.
“You know, this field is a lot bigger than people think, so that’s a must,” he says, as another person comes up behind him with a cool box full of a blue liquid. “I’ve been thinking about a guest performer.”
The mystery person, who then reveals himself as SZA, pours blue liquid over Lamar’s head.
The pair are preparing to co-headline a series of stadium shows in the US, starting in April.
They have collaborated on several projects before, earning Oscar, Grammy and Golden Globe nominations for their song All the Stars from the Black Panther movie.
Lamar, 37, was announced as the Superbowl performer in September last year.
The announcement was made by video again, with him talking to the camera, and saying, “My name’s Kendrick Lamar and I’ll be performing at Super Bowl LIX. Will you be pulling up? I hope so. You know it’s only one opportunity to win a championship. No round twos.”
However, it’s not the star’s first rodeo at the event; in 2022 he joined Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Eminem and 50 Cent for a performance.
