Nelly Furtado has finally realised she is “really good” at being a musician.
During a new interview with People, the Canadian singer-songwriter explained that she is embracing her life as a musician.
“I’m just leaning in a lot more,” the Promiscuous hitmaker said of her decades-long career. “I’m leaning into what I do for a living and I’m finally realising 23 years later, I’m really good at this.”
Nelly, 45, added, “I love being on stage. I love writing songs. I love spreading joy.”
The singer most recently worked on Keep Going Up, a collaboration with Timbaland and Justin Timberlake. The track came 16 years after the trio released the 2007 smash hit Give It To Me.
The latest collaboration was released on 1 September. It was first teased in July when Nelly shared a screenshot of a FaceTime call that she made to Timbaland and Justin, who were in the studio together, to her Instagram Stories.
Elsewhere in the interview, Nelly opened up about her alcohol habits.
“I treat alcohol as a festive thing, maybe for a birthday or something like that, but I don’t make it part of my regular routine because I find it really dehydrates me and makes me tired,” the Turn Off the Light singer explained.
