50 Cent has slammed the “disingenuous” apology video released by Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.
Diddy posted the minute-long apology video to Instagram after footage emerged of him assaulting then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura in a hotel in 2016.
“My behaviour on that video is inexcusable,” he said. “I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I’m disgusted.”
He went to say how he was at “rock bottom,” at the time and claimed he “sought out professional help, started going to therapy and rehab (and) had to ask god for his mercy and grace.”
50 Cent, who has a long-standing feud with Diddy, was quick to question his motives.
“This is not going to work, who is advising him right now?” the In Da Club rapper wrote on Instagram. “SMH bad move.”
He’s not the only big name to speak out against Diddy’s apology video.
Aubrey Day, who was part of the group Danity Kane launched by Diddy in 2005, has been a long-time critic of her former mentor.
“Diddy did not apologise to Cassie,” She pointed out on X. “He apologised to the world for seeing what he did.”
Cassie’s lawyer, Meredith Firetog, agreed. “When Cassie and multiple other women came forward, he denied everything and suggested that his victims were looking for a payday,” she said in a statement. “That he was only compelled to ‘apologise’ once his repeated denials were proven false shows his pathetic desperation, and no one will be swayed by his disingenuous words.”
